By default, your profile is fully visible to all users of Himalayas, search engines like Google, and answer engines like ChatGPT. If you recently created a Himalayas account and do not see your profile in search engine results, we encourage you to complete your profile, engage in our community, and link to your Himalayas profile from other websites to raise visibility with search engines.
You can control whether your profile appears and who can see it by changing the 'Visibility' setting on your profile. There are three options:
Public profile: Your profile will be public, and shown in search results and in Google.
Public but not searchable: Your profile will be public, but not searchable by companies or in Google.
Private profile: Your profile will not be visible. You will continue to receive matches.
After you make changes to your public profile, it can take several weeks or months at times for search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing to detect changes and refresh.
This is because the information that appears in search engines like Google, Bing, or Yahoo! is gathered and updated by the search engines themselves. How quickly your information is updated or removed from search results depends on how often each search engine updates their information.
Himalayas doesn’t control that refresh process. If you’re incorrectly appearing in search results on those sites, you can contact them directly to resolve incorrect search results:
Google via their Refresh Outdated Content tool available at: https://search.google.com/search-console/remove-outdated-content
Bing via the Content Removal tool: https://www.bing.com/webmasters/help/bing-content-removal-tool-cb6c294d
Yahoo! via the Yahoo! help center at: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/homepage
